Drifting through Space
Crocheted cotton, washi fibres & metal wire
53.5" x 57” | 136 cm x 145 cm
Don’t hold on too tightly, allow things to float apart, Drifting Through Space, yet still belong, connected not by force, but by a shared sense of origin.
Some forms stay close, others wander further, carrying traces of where they came from. The space between them feeling just as alive as the forms themselves.
Movement softens, edges dissolve, boundaries loosen, and everything seems to hover in a quiet state of becoming, free, suspended, and gently in motion.
Artist Reflection:
This is the first wall sculpture where the work extends beyond a single form. Instead of one piece, it unfolds across multiple elements, small washi “clouds” drifting apart, yet still connected. I approached it as one work, but quickly realized that creating unity here was very different from something like a triptych. These pieces don’t fit together seamlessly. They hold their own space, even as they belong to the same whole.
The four larger forms anchor the composition, while the smaller ones carry fragments of them outward, like something gently breaking apart and continuing on. I was careful to keep it light. The purple brings depth and grounding, but it’s balanced by openness, by white space, by air between the forms.
What I love most is how painterly it feels, even though no brush ever touched the surface. The fibers flow across each piece as if still in motion, and the raw, unbeaten strands soften into wisps, especially in the smaller elements.
Drifting Through Space became an exploration of letting go, allowing forms to separate without losing their connection. Not held together by force, but by a shared origin, and by the quiet space that continues to exist between them.
We never get to meet our authentic selves. From the moment we are born, the world starts to imprint itself upon us, wrapping our inner core in the layers of life’s journey.
With these abstract paintings, I want to give you a place to contemplate that genuine, untouched inner core that's tucked away in all of us. Take a moment, soak in the colors and textures, let your mind drift and peel back those layers, sneak a peek behind the veil.
Art is about what it does to You, how does it make You feel? Which colors and textures strike a chord with your soul?

Yes, all wall sculptures are all ready to hang, most have a wire on the back.
