2011 Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts at the Carrousel du Louvre

Montreal, September 20, 2011.  Montreal based artist Denise Buisman Pilger has been selected to be part of the Canadian delegation that will represent Canada at the 2011 Salon de la SNBA (Société Nationale des Beaux Arts) to be held in the Salle Le Nôtre at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris from December 8-1, 2011. This is one of the most prestigious international exhibitions for contemporary art. There will be a dozen delegations from around the world participating in the event. Canada has been a participant since 2004. Denise Buisman PIlger will be part of the Canadian delegation who will be attending the event and opening ceremony hosted by French president, Nicolas Sarkozy.  | Pictures >>

Small for W’all

Montreal, November 25, 2011.  Viva Vida Art Gallery presents Small for W’all, their yearly Small Works Exhibition. This exhibit of small works features a wide variety of works from both Canadian and international artists and offers a great opportunity to purchase a beautiful piece of art for an affordable price. Collaboration Project

Montreal, August 31, 2011.  Montreal portrait photographer Pazit Perez and visual artist Denise Buisman Pilger will be working together on a very special project. Together they will create a series of edgy cityscapes in which they will combine their talents. Currently they are working on a cityscape of Montreal which will be the the first piece in the series, with the second and third pieces in the planning stage. Both artists have expressed their excitement to be working together. Next to creating a series of original artworks they plan to experiment with different and new ways to reproduce the images. Keep an eye on this website for future announcements.

“Les Arbres”: Exhibit at Mile End Gallery 

Montreal, September 18, 2011.  Montreal based artist Denise Buisman Pilger will exhibit her work at an upcoming group show to be held at the Mile End Gallery in Montreal. The show is titles “Les Arbres’ (“Trees”) and will run from September 28th - October 9th. The public is invited to the vernissage which will be held on September 29th from 6-9pm. The Mile End Gallery is located on 5345 Avenue du Parc in Montreal.

URBAN, a Solo exhibition for Denise Buisman Pilger

Montreal, August 3, 2011.  From August 19 to September 1st the works of international artist Denise Buisman Pilger will be featured at the Viva Vida Art Gallery in Pointe Claire. ‘URBAN’ will show you surreal interpretations of North American cityscapes, reflecting the artist’s off-beat view of the world.

At home in Montreal since 2009, Denise Buisman Pilger, has travelled extensively, most recently living for three years in Fort Worth, Texas.  Her journeys and love of photography have served as inspiration for her unique mixed media and photo collages.  Taking major cities as her main focus point, she creates images that feel surreal and familiar at the same time.

The Viva Vida Art Gallery has recently moved to a beautiful new space on Lakeshore Road. This airy, contemporary space offers the perfect atmosphere for this urban themed, mixed media show.

SYMBIOSE Summer Art Festival, Breda 2011

Montreal, June 7, 2011.  To coincide with the 2018Brabant motto ‘The art of living together’ Grand Foulard and the StadsGalerij Breda organize the 2011 Breda Summer Art Festival, six weeks of art, literature and music. More than 100 participating artists from 28 different countries, showing paintings, drawings, collages, mixed media, video, photography and other graphic techniques, woven tapestries, sculptures and installations. There are six exhibition periods with a completely new exhibit each period. 

SYMBIOSE will run from Thursday July 7 - Sunday August 14, 2011 at De StadsGalerij, Oude Vest 34, 4811 HT Breda, The Netherlands

Montreal, May 10, 2011.  On May 18, 2011 International Mixed Media artist Denise Buisman Pilger will be a guest speaker at the general meeting of the Beaconsfield Artists’ Association. Some examples of her Mixed Media work will be shown, she will talk about her progression in the world of the visual arts and give a live demonstration on her work process. The presentation will take place between 7 and 10 pm. 

The Beaconsfield Artists' Association is comprised of art enthusiasts who share a passion for visual beauty and camaraderie, from semi-professional to professional levels.Since the first meeting in, 1984, the BAA has been committed to supporting local artists and the exhibiting of their work. Centennial Hall is their home base, where they meet five times a year, from September to May. They have guest speakers, demonstrations and illustrated talks on various media. International traveling artist brings the world to Montreal

‘New York’ on display in New Jersey

Montreal, January 9, 2011.  ‘New York’, a mixed media piece by Denise Buisman Pilger, will be displayed at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey as part of the Marylou Hillyer 25th International Juried Show, which can be viewed in the arts center’s main gallery from January 14 - March 18, 2011. The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey This annual event, now in its 25th year, showcases work from around the globe. It also provides artists with greater exposure and the opportunity to meet a curator from one of the world's best known art museums. Cash and non-monetary prizes are awarded.   

The exhibition is named in memory of Marylou Hillyer, a long-time supporter and dedicated member of the Art Center, who for many years oversaw and directed the International Juried Show.

This year's juror, Joan Young, Associate Curator of Contemporary Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, has noted, “The personal, psychological, historical, and philosophical are themes that have been filtered through the lenses of abstraction and narrative, fantasy and realism, humor and profundity in this eclectic selection of artworks.”
