Threaded through the in-between

Crocheted cotton, washi fibres & metal wire

24" x 18” | 61 cm x 46 cm

There’s a quiet space where nothing fully resolves, where movement slows just enough to notice what usually slips by. Threaded Through the In-between, attention lingers, returning in small moments, layer by layer.

Time stretches. Not in a rush, not in stillness, just a steady unfolding, where patience shapes what comes next. Then suddenly, a shift. A sense of flow, gentle but sure.

A close look reveals more than expected. Subtle connections, fine lines of tension and release, all holding together without needing to be fixed.

Artist Reflection:

This piece lived in the studio for quite some time, quietly waiting its turn. I would move past it, work on other things, then return to add a small layer before stepping away again. It never asked to be rushed. It needed that slow, intermittent attention, building itself gradually over time.

Like some of the larger works, I introduced raw, unbeaten washi fibers here, fine strands that stretch and thread their way across the surface. In a smaller, more intimate format, their presence feels even more pronounced. Combined with the delicate, poured layers of washi, they create a texture that only fully reveals itself up close. This is a piece that asks you to lean in, to take your time, to notice.

There was a moment, after all that waiting, where something shifted. The process found a rhythm, a gentle sense of flow. Not fast, these materials never allow that, but steady and sure. Threaded Through the In-Between exists in that space where nothing is forced to resolve, where time stretches just enough for something quieter, more connected, to emerge.

We never get to meet our authentic selves. From the moment we are born, the world starts to imprint itself upon us, wrapping our inner core in the layers of life’s journey.

With these abstract paintings, I want to give you a place to contemplate that genuine, untouched inner core that's tucked away in all of us. Take a moment, soak in the colors and textures, let your mind drift and peel back those layers, sneak a peek behind the veil.

Art is about what it does to You, how does it make You feel? Which colors and textures strike a chord with your soul?
