Midway To Elsewhere, there’s a pause filled with quiet momentum. Not stuck, not finished—just held in a space where possibility hums beneath the surface.

Color gathers like a held breath. Joy builds slowly, almost carefully, until it becomes impossible to ignore. What once felt precious and fragile starts to ask for more room.

And then the shift happens. Not with force, but with certainty. The pull forward is undeniable, and wherever “elsewhere” leads, it feels right to go.

Artist Reflection:

Like Between Then and Now, this painting spent a long time waiting. But for entirely different reasons. I loved its first layers so deeply that I was afraid to touch them. I began this piece at the end of 2024, a time when fear and hesitation were still very present in my studio. Those early marks—bold strokes of grey, white, and blue, laid down with an extra wide brush my husband had made for me—felt alive and complete in their own way.

I knew, though, that the painting wasn’t finished. It was tempting to stop there, to protect what I loved by calling it done. Instead, I gave it time. Time to work on other pieces, time to experiment, time to figure out who I was becoming as an artist.

Because of its size, it remained on my easel for months, quietly present as I moved around it. Slowly, it began to pull me back in.

Then one day, without hesitation or doubt, I knew exactly what the next step was. We moved forward together—without fear, with confidence and joy—into the unknown.

Those early layers are still there, visible and grounding, but what came after carries so much energy that the painting feels as though it’s bursting with passion. Midway to Elsewhere lives in that moment of transition: the space between holding on and letting go.

We never get to meet our authentic selves. From the moment we are born, the world starts to imprint itself upon us, wrapping our inner core in the layers of life’s journey.

With these abstract paintings, I want to give you a place to contemplate that genuine, untouched inner core that's tucked away in all of us. Take a moment, soak in the colors and textures, let your mind drift and peel back those layers — sneak a peek behind the veil.

Art is about what it does to You, how does it make You feel? Which colors and textures strike a chord with your soul?

WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED TO CREATE THIS ARTWORK?
This mixed-media painting on wood is created using a combination of acrylic paints and a variety of fine art materials.

IS THE ARTWORK SIGNED?
Yes, all original artworks are signed on the front in the lower right corner. They also have their title, date, artist name and a signed certificate of authenticity on the back.

IS THIS PAINTING READY TO HANG?
Yes, all paintings on wood panel and canvas are all ready to hang, most have a wire on the back or, for larger pieces a set of eyelets or a French cleat that enables flush mounting (flush mounting is highly recommended for pieces larger than 48”x36”). My paintings show beautifully with or without a frame. If you prefer I can arrange framing for you, fill out the form below for a quote. Because framing adds weight and volume during shipping you may prefer to have your local framer do the work.

I LOVE YOUR ARTWORK BUT NOT SURE I CAN AFFORD IT RIGHT NOW. DO YOU OFFER A PAYMENT PLAN?
Absolutely! It is very important to me that you can add the piece you fell in love with to your collection, when it comes to purchasing art you should not have to make concessions. That is why the Artist Abroad is always happy to offer a payment plan that fits your situation. When full payment has been made the artwork will be delivered to you.
